StorySpells ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using StorySpells, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who Can Use StorySpells

StorySpells is designed for children ages 3 to 8, but accounts may only be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old. Children may not create their own accounts. By creating an account, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child using the service and that you consent to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We aim to collect as little information as possible. Specifically:

• Parent account information: the parent's name and email address, used to create and secure the account.
• Child profile details: a first name (or nickname), age, hair color, favorite animal, hobby, and a "dream place." These are used only to personalize the stories.
• Activity within the app: the stories created, quiz results, and progress data such as stars, streaks, and badges.

We do not collect photographs, last names, home addresses, phone numbers, precise location, or any sensitive personal information from children. We do not knowingly collect more information than is needed to provide the service.

How We Use Information

• To generate personalized stories featuring the child as the main character.
• To highlight age-appropriate sight words and create comprehension quizzes.
• To save stories and progress so they can be revisited.
• To maintain the security and proper functioning of the service.

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information. We do not use children's information for behavioral advertising, and we do not display third-party advertising in the app.

How Stories Are Created

Stories and quizzes are generated using artificial intelligence based on the details you provide. The character details you enter are sent to our story-generation provider solely to create the story and are not used to build advertising profiles.

Parental Rights and Choices

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

• Review the personal information we have collected about your child.
• Request that we delete your child's information and account.
• Refuse to allow further collection or use of your child's information.

To make any of these requests, email us at mystoryspells@gmail.com. We will respond and act on verified requests promptly. Please note that deleting your information will remove saved stories and progress.

Data Storage and Security

Information is stored using industry-standard, secured cloud infrastructure. Passwords are stored in a hashed (scrambled) form and are never kept in plain text. While no online service can guarantee perfect security, we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold.

Data Retention

We keep account and story information for as long as the account is active. If you request deletion, or if an account is inactive for an extended period, we will remove the associated personal information.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We require parental consent before collecting personal information connected to a child, we limit what we collect, and we give parents control over their child's information. If you believe we have collected information from a child without proper parental consent, please contact us at mystoryspells@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
